Two weeks tomorrow, the Group will convene in Sudbury for lunch before visiting Chilton, where St. Mary’s Church incorporates the Crane Chapel. Here Ralph Butler, Lord Sudeley, and his wife were and possibly still are commemorated in the stained-glass window (“Eleanor“, p.53, 94). Lord Sudeley was Lady Eleanor Talbot’s father-in-law and a likely witness of her marriage to Edward IV, although much older than the couple. So, coincidentally, was Canon Stillington, although he outlived them both.
